Doula, childbirth educator and mother of three, Jacque Shannon-McNulty is deeply committed to providing her clients with warm and compassionate care throughout their birth experience. She honors each mother's unique needs and choices unconditionally, empowering and supporting mothers and their partners and providing the current, evidence-based information they need to make conscious birth choices. Jacque's intuitive and skillful labor support and warm and nurturing style puts birthing families at ease and gives mothers and their partners comfort and reassurance during this profoundly significant and deeply personal experience. Jacque is a DONA trained doula trained and certified through the Midwest Maternal Child Institute, experienced in hospital birth and homebirth. Jacque is a midwife's apprentice, midwife's assistant and a midwifery student, certified both in waterbirth and neonatal resuscitation. Jacque trained as a childbirth educator through Birthworks (Jacque is not a Birthworks educator and does not offer Birthworks classes). Inspired to create a unique, holistic, comprehensive childbirth education experience for her clients, Jacque created Blissful Birth in 2004. Jacque is well-versed in many natural healing modalities including aromatherapy, energetic healing, acupressure, meditation and visualization, yoga, herbs and holistic nutrition. Jacque is an experienced nursing mom. She gave birth to all three of her children joyfully and naturally at home under the care of midwives, including two home waterbirths. She breastfed for many years, nursing babies, toddlers, nursing during pregnancies and tandem nursing and was involved with La Leche League for several years, both in the US and in France. Jacque earned her Bachelors of Science degree from Shimer College . Before beginning her own family, Jacque worked as a counselor for women and children survivors of domestic violence and facilitated support groups for women survivors of sexual abuse. An avid writer, Jacque also works as an editor and freelance writer, authoring several articles on pregnancy, birth and parenting. |
